I've been a freelancer for most of my life, but I tried a Real Job once. I was a Master Restorer in the Conservation Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for eight years. That was all I could take of precious curators, museum politics and a laughable salary. I quit the Met and did private work for collectors, dealers and other museums for the next few years. In the end, I got bored with it and decided it was more fun to build custom electric guitars for rock kids. For awhile...
