Charles
Doty

At
first review this 76 year old Christian minister from Tulsa, Oklahoma
appears to be a stauch conservative. His first priority is national
security and defense and he takes a hard-line stance on crime
and drugs. But the WWII veteran is a Democrat who has also been
a candidate in the past four presidential primaries. Where his
pendulum swings to the left, Doty's social policies reflect a
more moderate bent: he is pro-labor, taking a clear protectionist
stance that many of his party mates avoid; he would provide, under
a general welfar plan, food, housing, clothing, and medical care
for the poor, indigent, and mentally incompetent; and he would
grant a general amnesty for all except the criminally insane.
Doty
also brings a wide variety of experience to his resume, leading
us to presume he understands his labor platform from all angles.
In addition to his military service and his ministry, Doty's professional
experience includes dog breeding, food service, pharmaceuticals
and real estate. He strikes us as somebody's tough but compassionate
grandpa who's worked hard for what he's got and understands the
value of a dollar. That doesn't sound like a bad sort of character
to have in the White House, though he'd have to trade in his cap
and work shirt for a suit and tie.
