Leslie 'Les' Lummis

`

"Don't vote for more - Vote for Les"

Les Lumis is a sharp old geezer from Guam who thinks that, "taxes can be eliminated, and that governments can be supported in the normal course of business, without taxes." In fact, his entire platform is based on the elimination of taxes.

We're not possessed of sufficient economic smarts to pass judgement on the soundness of his propositions, but anybody who wants to eliminate taxes is ok in our book. When Les, a WWII veteran, retired on the island of Guam, he devoted his life to researching tax matters. Unlike a lot of unlikely candidates whose platforms have all the depth of a streetcorner wacko tract, Les has studied the matter well and, right or wrong, has a lot to say about it. His website is packed with artlcles he's written on the topic of taxes, as well as correspondence from assorted tax authorities and government officials.

Les is a pretty good writer. His articles are interesting, thought-provoking, and often amusing. Y'gotta love a writer who begins an article on the Federal Reserve with: "A striking resemblance exists between Abbott and Costello in their humorous skit involving a $20 bill, the Federal Reserve and Uncle Sam in a scenario involving U.S. currency, the future of our country, and ourselves."

The more time we spent on Les Lumis' website, the more we were charmed by the old rascal. We finally had to leave before we were charmed into voting for him.
