The Harold Stassen Award
for Political Futility

Harold Stassen first ran for president in 1948. He tried again in 1952. Both times he was defeated. He ran for President five more times and five more times he was soundly defeated.

But you've got to give him credit for perseverance.

In honor of this great political stalwart, DarkHorse2000 is proud to recognize those politicians who, against all reasonable odds and without a snowball's chance in hell, have continued to throw their battered hats in the ring election after election. They are the Timex Watches of politics, the Energizer Bunnies of the campaign trail, the Grateful Dead of the political arena.

We invite you to nominate a candidate or cast your vote for the political loser most deserving of this prestigious award. On November 3rd, 2000, we will announce the winner and present him with a handsome plaque recognizing the hopelessness of his pointless efforts.

Just send us an email with your vote or your nomination and we'll post it here for all the world's amusement.

So far, the nominees are:

Harry Browne (Libertarian)

Lyndon LaRouche

Ralph Nader (Green)
