PARTY OVERVIEW

If you're expecting to find a bunch of pickup truck driving, Confederate flag waving rednecks who still hold grudges over the Civil War, you'll be disappointed by the new Confederate Party, whose main tack is decentralization of the Federal Government and restoration of state's rights. While their name has historically racist overtones, the party insists they are not racist, they are merely against multiculturalism, preferring a more isolated racial individuality. Hmm. Not exactly calling a spade a spade, are they?

OFFICIAL PLATFORM STATEMENT
FROM THE OFFICIAL WEB PAGE

Pulling control out of the hands of the Federal Goverment is the key issue for the Confederate Party, whose platform would strongly limit the reach of the Feds in favor of State sovereignty. They follow the standard arch-conservative/constitutionalist ideology that calls for the elimination of foreign aid, the United Nations, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, the IRS, and the ATF. They'd also eliminate the income tax and replace it with a National Sales Tax. Unlike other parties that hang out on the right side of the political spectrum, the Confederates support the legalization of Marijuana. Needless to say, the Conferates are against any sort of gun control.

THE DARKHORSE2000 FISHY-EYED ASSESSMENT

Limiting the powers of the Federal government may be appealing to many conservative voters, BUT it's doubtful that the mainstream will be attracted to an organization that classifies non-regulated gun ownership as a "family issue" in their party platform.

By the way, the last time we tried to visit their site, we discovered it is now password-protected. Oh, well - maybe they were having a problem with carpetbaggers.

We checked with our clandestine contacts below the Mason-Dixon Line and they reported that they thought Confederate Party seemed to be more a matter of a couple of good ol' boys with a website, rather than a legitimate political movement. If anyone down there has any information to the contrary, we'd be much obliged if y'all would let us know.
