PARTY OVERVIEW

Citing the failure of both the Democrats and Republicans in addressing the needs of working families, the Constitution Action Party seeks to blend economic populism with a healthy dose of fundamental Christian authority to govern morals and social behavior.

CAP'S MANIFESTO

1.God is the source of all authority. Those who seek to displace or ignore God in the public forum are working de facto against the interests of the nation. We will strive to make this fact clear at every turn to our fellow citizens.

2.The consolidation of power by our central government is constitutionally illegitimate. We will work to redistribute power in the manner intended by our founders.

3.The usurpation of executive and legislative powers by the judicial branch, at all levels of our federal system, is similarly illicit and fundamentally incompatible both with the dispassion and the life tenure of our judges. In one way or the other, we will remove this incompatibility.

4.Racism, including reverse discrimination, is evil and essentially at odds with American ideals. It can be extirpated from our national life, however, not through the power of the central government, which has simply planted the seeds of new racism as it worked to defeat the old, but through the power of the family, rightly taught to see all human beings as children of God.

5.Militarism, except in defense of our national integrity and freedom, is an offense against Christian meekness, which will inherit the earth. We can approve, therefore, neither of planned military weakness, tempting aggression against our national integrity, nor of aggressive policies directed toward perfecting an imperfectible world.

6.Peace is a fruit of the tree of justice. We will tirelessly promote the adoption of political and economic mechanisms tending toward the fair reward of labor in all parts of the international economic system. Preserving international peace will free up resources for the fair reward of labor at the same time it reduces the need for military solutions.

7.Educating children is, first of all, the responsibility of their parents and, secondly, of that level of government closest and most accountable to their parents. We will work to reduce and if possible eliminate federal involvement in primary and secondary education. We will also resist national organizations, public or private, which seek to instill in our children values inimical to traditional, family-centered values.

8.Legitimate government authority includes the power to tax for the maintenance of constitutional state functions. Taxation is, however, economically destructive in principle, so the state must keep its tax burdens at the lowest possible level and the overall burden of taxes must be shifted towards those levels of government closest and most accountable to the people. Nor does the power of the state to tax remove the personal obligation to charity. Soulless states will not stand judgment; no civil servant may stand in our stead.

9.Sexual activity is blessed by God only within the marital bond between man and wife. All other sexual activity, including sexually explicit or suggestive reading materials, entertainment or other media with prurient or pornographic content, is in one way or the other, sooner or later socially and personally destructive, and especially in its tendency towards the systematic degradation of women, the wellspring of human life on earth. We will fight against media and entertainment institutions flooding our culture with destructive views of sexuality.

10.Legitimate governments have delegated to them, by the Author of life, authority to take the life of the guilty to protect the life and security of the innocent, and to expend and take life when necessary to defend the nation's sovereign existence. Individuals may take all necessary means to defend their own lives or the lives of their families and neighbors. All other taking of life, including abortion, is a usurpation of divine authority and therefore a matter of the utmost gravity. A nation which systematically endorses or engages in such usurpation invites divine retribution and imperils its existence.

THE DARKHORSE2000 FISHY-EYED ASSESSMENT

While we're certainly not about to invite the messy business of divine retribution, we feel that those who would impose the tenets of their particular faith on all Americans, regardless of their individual beliefs are missing one of the important points of our Constitution - religious freedom.

With the Bible as their bible, it's hard to find the Constitution anywhere in the actions of this party.
