PARTY OVERVIEW

Party Overview: The New Union party is a Socialist party whose ideology centers on the United States Revolutional Labor Movement from 1890 to 1914, as expressed by Daniel DeLeon, who was then the editor of the Socialist Labor Party's periodicals. The DeLeonist socialists favor the overthrow of capitalism through legislation rather than revolution.

OFFICIAL PLATFORM STATEMENT
FROM THE OFFICIAL WEB PAGE

The New Union party seeks to bring the entire economy under the ownership and control of the people. The workers need to unite in one rank-and-file controlled union. The workers will assume control of their workplaces, and manage them democratically through their New Unions. An elected Congress of delegates from each industry will...replace the present political Congress as the nation's government.

THE DARKHORSE2000 FISHY-EYED ASSESSMENT

Yet another socialist splinter movement longing for the revolutionary spirit of the early 20th century, the New Union party is strong on ideology but vague on the exact legal means to implement that ideology. Like the many of the other flavors of socialism, their chances of political recognition and success are slim to anorexic, but without parties like this, the burning passions of revolutionary fervor would languish in the futile rhetoric of solitary coffeehouse manifestos.
