DarkHorse2000 is going to feature new editorial content every day. That means we're going to need a lot of material from freelance writers to supplement the stuff we produce in-house. We welcome your submissions or queries on specific article ideas. We also assign articles now and then, so if you have a particular area of expertise, interest, or inside contacts in the smarmy world of election politics, give us the details and we'll contact you.

We're a non-partisan site, but that doesn't mean we can't have opinionated articles and editorials - just that we'll maintain an even balance of opinions in all shades of the politcal spectrum.

We don't have many submission rules, but we're wicked serious about the few we have, so listen up. . .

1. Submissions must be about American politics, political figures, or the coming presidential election. No conspiracy stuff unless you can document it well enough to stand up in court, and nothing about aliens unless they're running for office.

2. Try to keep articles under 500 words. If you've got a great idea for a longer piece, write and tell us about it. If it's worth doing, we'll do it.

3. Document your claims, quotes and statistics, preferably with links to the sources. Keep in mind that we're smart little monkeys and our bogosity detectors are set to maximum sensitivity.

4. We like links. Hypertext is one of the fundamental whiz-bangs of the Internet. Make good use of it.

5. We care about spelling and grammar because we have to read it, and if we use it we have to edit it. Don't make our jobs any harder.

6. You can submit your stuff via email or snail mail. Email attachments are ok, but they must be in one of the following formats: Plain Text, Simple Text, RTF, or BBEdit.

You may have noticed that we omitted any mention of MS-Word. No, it was not an oversight. We used to like Word 5.1 because it did what we wanted and it was that last version that wasn't insanely bloated. But our funky old 5.1 went buggy with the year 2000 and we stubbornly refuse to upgrade. Besides, it was the only MS product on our Macs and now that it's gone, we feel somehow clean and pure again.

Please don't send graphics files unless you clear it with us first.

7. Include a brief note about yourself and the URL of your site, if you have one.

We can't promise to reply to every submission in a timely manner because we're cruelly overworked. Bear with us. Be patient. We'll let you know as soon as we can.
