Way
back in another lifetime I did commercial photography,
but what I really wanted to do was art. Silly me.
The
images below were done sometime around 1967-68.
The originals were shot on Kodak 2475 high contrast 35mm film
developed in Dektol for maximum graininess, and further manipulated
with a room-sized copy camera on 16x20 sheet film, then
retouched by hand and contact printed on Agfa Brovira paper.
Each image took several days work and a lot of expensive film and paper.
Of
course, all that can now be done in a few minutes with Photoshop.
Ain't technololgy grand?
My interest in photography as an art form was reborn
with the acquisition of a digital camera a couple of years ago.
I've always been drawn to the pictorial photographers of the
early 20th century and most of my current work
is a modern interpretation
of the style of those early masters of the art of photography.
